The Royal Hospital Chelsea is a retirement home and nursing home for British soldiers who are unfit for further duty due to injury or old age. It is located on Royal Hospital Road in Chelsea, London, in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. It is a true hospital in the original sense of the word – that is, a place where hospitality was provided. The residents in the Royal Hospital are referred to as “in-pensioners” (or more colloquially, as Chelsea Pensioners).
The front of the building facing the river is in sun during the morning and early afternoon whilst the back has sun in the late afternoon.
Opening hours are :-10:00 to 12:00 (noon) and 14:00 to 16:00 throughout the year.
The Great Hall is open Monday to Saturday:11:00 to 12:00 (noon) and 14:00 to 16:00 throughout the year.
